In Her Own Words: Louise Lintz Shares Her Story

Photo of Louise LintzI first became acquainted with Milton Hospital when I moved to town in 1968. My husband Ed was about to begin a medical residency program in Boston, and we were attracted to the town on the recommendation of good friends who had grown up in Milton.

We learned of the hospital primarily through friends who supported the hospital in a variety of ways, not only financially but also by volunteering their time and talents to serve on boards and committees. We came to realize that Milton Hospital was a small town "gem," one that offered high-quality medical care and strong community support all in a setting close to home.

Ed was especially influenced by Dr. Seth Crocker, who became his mentor and friend. When it became time to decide where he wished to practice medicine, Ed chose Milton Hospital and worked alongside Dr. Crocker. He established the practice known today as South Shore Internal Medicine. Ed died in 2001, but he would be so pleased to see how the practice has grown and how it continues to provide the highest standard of care in our community.

Milton Hospital has evolved over time, adjusting to the changing realities of delivery of care to patients. Its merger with the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital has allowed it to expand the services it provides, both in Milton and in Boston, while at the same time never losing its reputation for personalized, quality care close to home. The hospital has been fortunate to be the beneficiary of strong leadership in guiding it forward in a complex medical environment. Administrators like George Geary, Peter Healy, Rich Fernandez, and others have enabled Milton Hospital to grow and prosper while never losing its small town community feel.

I feel privileged to support the work of BID Milton Hospital. In addition to being engaged with ongoing fundraising events, I have chosen to make gifts of appreciated securities—knowing I have supported a very worthy cause while enjoying favorable tax advantages at the same time. I have also chosen to include BID Milton in my estate planning.
